Put the JOY back in Scripture

So many armchair, Monday morning quarterback preachers on Facebook; so many prophets, so many apostles…but few who know and understand the true Word OF God. There are no twists and turns, just the narrow way.

How many times have all of us read and re-read scripture but one day it just JUMPS at you? I don’t know about you, but that’s the exciting part of reading this Glorious Word! DO your due diligence. Actually, that’s the fun part of reading scripture! Dig, dig, and dig some more! The Bible is a treasure that when you dig deeper, it gets richer!

Matthew 11:28 says: “v28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. v29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. v30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.”

AND learn of ME! Oh, Jesus my JOY! You open this word to my heart more and more! I don’t know about you, but I’ve read that scripture in Matthew zillions of times and never noticed those four little words before: AND learn of ME!

Jesus wants us to rely upon Him, to trust Him, to love Him…and all He asks is that we LEARN of Him.

The CHRISTmas Christian

or, The failure of CHRISTmas.

It’s Christmastime…that time of year! Or to me, a time to witness people trample over Christ to cheap adornments, cheap gifts and perceived traditions that keep Christ OUT of Christmas. Everyone loves a holiday, loves to say ‘Christmas’ but have no intentions of including Christ.

Christmas is a time when Christians celebrate the birth of the Savior; whether it was His actual birthday is not important…we don’t mind having Presidents Day or Martin Luther King Day off from work when that day does not reflect their actual birthdays.

In Redmond and Seattle, Washington, “It’s OK to say Merry Christmas” signs were called ‘not sensitive‘ and ‘alienates other religions‘. I’m pretty darned sure that ‘other religions‘ don’t have anything to do with Christmas anyway. But as usual, people want the holiday, but not Christ.

Without Christ, there would be no Christmas. I can’t make that any simpler. If you don’t want Christ in Christmas, then go to work on December 25th…..and a ‘Happy Holidays’ to ya.

In true Christianity, the Bible teaches us to discern and teach against false doctrine. We are to be a ‘watchman on the wall‘, not passive. Passivity causes slumber, slumber causes CULT. Then, if you are a Christian and don’t care about what CHRISTmas is, then  you are in slumber.

There is no middle road, no gray area…either Christmas is about Jesus Christ or it’s about YOU.

The Prayer of the Sojourning Christian.

I cried, but no one heard.
I was hurt, but no one helped.
I fought alone to no avail,
I waited, but no one came.

I saw, but couldn’t remember.
I heard, but couldn’t discern.
I held out my hand, but it came back empty.
My heart hurt, and no one comforted me.

How can I love when I receive none,
Where is the delight in life?
Is it in the mirror looking back at me
Or is it in the eyes of another?

Lord! Come closer, be near me
Because my fight is harder than ever.
You are my only Joy, my Salvation
From a life of tears and remorse.

I have lost so much and gained little.
This world has spewed me out
But it won’t let me go.
Let me go, world…I am not yours.

But I look up and see my Abundance
In a face I have not yet met.
His beauty is infinite, His love is unmatched.
Just a little while longer, He says, You are not done.

I hold my hands up to Him in Praise
and seek His warmth with sweet tears.
I am yours, I say, I am yours!
Touch me today, Lord…Touch me today!

I am a stranger, a sojourner in this world.
My woes are His, but the consequences are mine.
I look to Him, I Praise His name!
Until I cross that River, I will rest in Him!

Authority & the Cult Christian

Do Christians believe in cults? Do they participate in cults? But do they believe they are involved in cults?

A cult isn’t always obvious…in fact, they are usually sneaky, which makes sense considering the source. ‘Strange Fire’ was addressed early in the Scriptures [Lev 10:1-3] to let the reader/believer know that bringing anything before the Lord that isn’t holy [false doctrine] will not be recognized by Him. The work of one’s hands is not of Faith, it is worthy of damnation.

The flesh is an ugly thing; God addressed this in Leviticus essentially saying that nothing unholy can be in His presence:

“Aaron therefore went to the altar and killed the calf of the sin offering, whichwas for himself. Then the sons of Aaron brought the blood to him. And he dipped his finger in the blood, put it on the horns of the altar, and poured the blood at the base of the altar. But the fat, the kidneys, and the fatty lobe from the liver of the sin offering he burned on the altar, as the Lord had commanded Moses. The flesh and the hide he burned with fire outside the camp.” [Lev 9:8-11]

The Prescribed Order of Victory, Christ’s finished Work, does NOT include or allow:

  • Perverting the Truth [2Pet 3:17-18, Acts 13:10]
  • Faith turned into law [Gal 1:6-7]
  • Arrogance, personal agenda, pride or self righteouness [1Tim 6:3-4, Neh 9:16]
  • Ignorance [2Tim 2:22-23]

Matthew 26:41 says, “Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Too many Christians are tempted to add to or subtract from Christ’s Finished Work. It is tempting to abuse our authority in Him to exalt ourselves, but we are called to ‘watch and pray’ rather than divide and conquer.

There are Christians that believe in the Prosperity ‘Gospel’, Calvinism, Mormonism, keeping the Sabbath, etc. But what they are really saying is that what Christ did at the Cross was NOT ENOUGH. They have to add to it to suit themselves, they bring outside authority to it rather than the Godly authority we have in HIM.

Why do Christians add to or take away from the Finished Work of Christ? Even Christians who sit under correct teaching sometimes stir in their own personal authority – or superiority – to what they are being taught, unbeknownst to the teacher/preacher who purports Truth. The teacher/preacher cannot control what the Christians thinks they hear from the pulpit.

Do we have authority or a false sense of authority regarding the word of God? Then, do we abuse the knowledge of the Finished work of Christ by adding our own salt? This why many Christians don’t have or walk in victory.

Christians have authority in the name of Jesus and believing in His Finished Work at the Cross. We do not have authority in changing His Word to suit our agenda. We cannot put our Faith in anything but the Finished Work of Christ or we add salt to an already Perfect Truth.

It is an abuse of power and authority that can make a cult out of truth! Adding your own salt is an improper authority called PRIDE & SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS. We humans are so imperfect that we continue to follow paths that Cain followed. Improper authority killed Abel, improper authority cast out and marked Cain [Gen 4:8-15].

“But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” [James 2:20]. AND works without Faith is empty and has no power, only a presumed authority that is not of God.

WE HAVE TO DIE TO SELF [Romans 6], ‘allowing’ Jesus to do what He was called to do by the Father, dying for a people who abhorred Him, spat on Him, abandoned Him. How can anyone add one extra grain of salt to that? How is that NOT enough?

IT IS FINISHED. Once and for all, forever and ever.

TESTIMONY: Choosing LIFE & Faith, no matter what.

For there to be a testimony, there has to be a test. And as Christians, we are tested all the time. In a time when a woman finds herself pregnant at the very worst time, God tells us it’s never bad time to be the life giver He made women to be. Since the foundation of the WORLD we have been known by God, each with a divine purpose only He can give.

FAITH.

Being on the sidewalk, we hear so many ‘reasons’ why they can’t have their baby. But there are no reasons…not ONE…good enough to kill an innocent unborn child entrusted to the parents by God.

What a blessing to read this incredible testimony given by God’s woman, a woman who follows Him no matter what. After all, lemonade tastes much better than sour, bitter lemons.

Thank you God’s woman, for sharing this incredible testimony, and thank you for choosing LIFE: “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ,” [Gal 6:2]

Written in her own hand, enjoy this beautiful testimony:

One year ago today at this time I was saying hello for the first time to my 2nd little bundle of joy, Zachary! I knew as soon as I found out he was a boy that the Lord put the name Zachary on my heart for him. I knew the meaning of the name at the time but I didn’t know why in particular the Lord wanted me to name him it until after he was born. You see I’m not going to go into details but a few months before Zach’s birth I started going through one of the worst times of my life and it was something completely out of my control. There was nothing I could do to avoid or help the situation but I had to just deal with it and do it 7 months pregnant at that! The beauty of being a child of God though is that I didn’t have to deal with it on my own but as always my Heavenly Father was right there by my side taking care of me in any way He could. If I only had the time to tell you all how many ways God has showed me how much He loves me and has had my back through this thing! One of the biggest ways was by Him giving me Zach. Before his birth I honestly was a little worried about how I was going to take care of a newborn and a 3 year old in my emotional state but after he was born and I spent a little time with him I understood immediately why the Lord gave me the name Zachary for him. Zachary means “God remembered” so you see in a time of deep despair God remembered me and gave me a literal bundle of joy! He really is just the happiest most laid back baby ever and has been since his birth. You can pretty much guarantee a laugh out of him whenever you see him. Of course my 3 year old already made me smile and laugh everyday no matter what but the Lord gave me another little blessing to make me smile and laugh even more despite what I was going through. Words can’t even describe the love I have for my 2 little boys and the joy that they bring to my life! [Anonymous]

The Bible says, “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

The Day After Mother’s Day

You may have noticed that I did not post anything for Mother’s Day. To me, Mother’s Day is not what it is for everyone else.

20170924_143514

I have learned a long time ago not to wait by my telephone on Mother’s Day. Sometimes it rings, sometimes it doesn’t. This is why my husband and I usually take a day trip that day. We really love to get out and drive the countryside, see and hear God’s creation, give Glory to God….because sometimes, my telephone doesn’t ring.

It doesn’t ring for everyone else, either. I know too many moms who have been rejected by their adult kids. I have grown accustomed to the disrespect and hate, I can’t change them. So, I have to change ME.

As I mentioned a bunch on times during the 30 Day Parenting Prayer Challenge for our adult kids, parents have to not look back but blaze a trail FORWARD. If we are forgiven by God, then who are they to keep us in THEIR subjection? That, my friends, is being held hostage. And I won’t live like that….anymore.

There are other victims of Mother’s Day: post abortive women, women who miscarried, mom passed away, kids in foster care, adopted kids, the brokenhearted, etc. A victim stays a victim until you escape. A holiday does not identify who we are to God. We are His, we are forgiven; if our kids can’t forgive, then too bad. I can’t live in the memory they have for us for the rest of THEIR lives.

My husband honors me for Mother’s Day. He always has. He knows that this day is really about MOM, they one who gave life, the one who loves unconditionally, the one who is there when she’s not needed or wanted. I have made mistakes just like every other person in the world, but I certainly don’t need a holiday to remind me of it.

Happy Day After Mother’s Day:

v16 Thus says the Lord: “Refrain your voice from weeping,
And your eyes from tears; for your work shall be rewarded, says the Lord, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy.

v17 There is hope in your future, says the Lord,
That your children shall come back to their own border.”
Jeremiah 31:15-17

Intention, Prayer & FAITH

PRAYER. Prayer is an interesting thing; it’s free, it’s easy…it’s POWERFUL and we make more time NOT to pray rather than using this great discipline to move mountains:

v22 So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God.
v23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.
v24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” [Mark 11:22-24]

When I go to  the sidewalk of abortion facilities, I go to PRAY. If I am asked or led to counsel, I will…but my intention is to pray and stand as a faithful witness. Christians with great intentions hardly ever come citing many things; not enough time, not ‘my’ ministry, etc. That, Mr. & Mrs. Christian, is an EXCUSE, not ‘intention’.

Don’t be too discouraged…even Jesus had a time with His own disciples:

v40 Then He came to the disciples and found them sleeping, and said to Peter, “What! Could you not watch with Me one hour?
v41 Watch and pray, lest you enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” [Matthew 26:40-41]

ONE HOUR. That’s all Jesus asked of them but knew they could do much more. Why didn’t they?

v19 Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?”
v20 So Jesus said to them, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.
v21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

Intention is what the Apostles had, but FAITH moves mountains and heals; lack of faith makes what was alive to be dead.  Some Christians believe that abortion will not be defeated so why bother praying? Even in these ‘last days’ we have given up…but let me assure you of this: We do not know this side of Heaven who we have effected by being faithful. Just seeing you on the sidewalk praying can change someone’s life!

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” [Heb 11:1]

How will they know there is a war if they don’t see the army? I would not ask anyone to do something I won’t. And being post-abortive I have the best excuse of all…but that’s not how God sees it. He takes our fears and turns them into ministry.

ONE HOUR. I CHALLENGE YOU TO ONE HOUR OF PRAYER AT A LOCAL ABORTION FACILITY TO SHOW YOUR SUPPORT FOR UNBORN LIFE. THIS ONE SELFLESS ACT CAN CHANGE SOMEONE’S WORLD AND SAVE LIVES!

A Life of Omission – What God Really Has For You.

I am writing this to the pre-abortive moms and dads; I am also writing this to the addict and prostitute. We humans are very quick to judge God for our lives…why are we here? We feel used, abused and unimportant. Our very existence seems without worth but we’re still here. Does God KNOW we exist? I can tell you that there were times when I wondered all of this. I have thought long and hard about how much I have violated God’s trust in me; an expectation He has for the life He gave me, a stewardship and an assignment for my own life that I was not taking seriously.

Bottom line is that I was trying to be my own God for so long that even the God I thought I was gave up.

We are not alone in feeling left on the side of the road. But that is not God’s plan for us nor is it His intention to keep us from being who He meant for us to be. WE ARE KEEPING GOD FROM BEING GOD.

If we feel that we have a life of omission – that is NOT from God. He created us to be called to do a work for Him. The implication that God doesn’t care about His creation is not only NOT true but unbiblical:

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.” Jeremiah 1:5

There is much that this verse says about LIFE. We feel so insignificant because of our sin and circumstances that we wonder why God would bother with us. God is not the author of confusion (1Corinthians 14:33) nor does He delight in watching us fail (1Corinthians 10:13).

Life is precious to God. He gave it to us with hope that we will protect it. As Jeremiah 1:5 says, every human being is known by God before the creation of the world; we are known, we are ordained, we have a work and a plan by God to follow and finish.

Not one person or unborn child is exempt from the will of God or His plan:

  • We are known regardless of our social status. Next time you drive down the street and see the homeless, the prostitute, the drug dealer, the passed out drunk, keep in mind that they are also known by God and has a plan set before them BY GOD. Their current status is NOT from God, it is not to be their expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). WE ARE ALL CREATED BY A HOLY GOD. PERIOD.
  • Not defined by our parent’s sin. More often than not, children that are aborted are from single parents. Marriage and sexual integrity has become some kind of byproduct of a bygone era; society feels it’s too big of a step to get married but not a problem to have many children or many abortions. Some unborn children are a result from the horrific sins of an incestuous relationship, rape or outside of marriage….even so, everyone is created by God.
  • God creates us, not our parents. Our limited sphere of thinking about who our Creator is gives us limited views of everything else in our life. When the awesomeness of God is taken away, then our lives seem less important and our tendency to sin is greater. When we finally realize that God knew us before our parents did, then their sin doesn’t have its effect on us any longer; i.e.: if they are alcoholics or an addict, then we can break the chain of EVERY addiction knowing that WE DO NOT INHERIT WHAT IS NOT OF GOD. Your parent’s sin does NOT define who you are or will be. (Romans 8:1-2)
  • God ordains us, the world does not. This temporal world is not going to give you what God can. God has a work specifically just for you. He will protect you and provide (provision, not worldly prosperity) for you when you do His work: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.” (Jeremiah 1:9)
  • Abortion binds the hands of God. Aborted children had a plan by God that was heinously interrupted by being murdered in the womb. Women and men that act as God to determine what is right and wrong is why multiple millions of unborn children have been slaughtered. God has never ordered that any man or woman abort their child for any reason. Doing so is telling God He cannot be God: “For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.” (Romans 8:29-31)

Beloved, God has not forgotten you. He will be with you to strengthen, affirm and to deliver you. We are not forsaken, although I know it feels like it sometimes. But the good news is that He loves us:

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart. I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.” Jeremiah 29:11-14

If you are pregnant and thinking about abortion, remember that God has a separate plan you and your precious unborn baby regardless of your current circumstances. If you are post-abortive, abortion is forgivable through the healing and saving power of Jesus Christ.

If you are an addict, afflicted or hopeless, remember that God has a plan for you, too. He seeks you to do His will; He will provide, He will gird you, He will heal you.

If you are suicidal, God is waiting for you to acknowledge Him so He can help you. Your life is NOT in vain, it is ORDAINED.

Your LIFE can change today: “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, ‘Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame.’ For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13)

You are not forgotten.

A year in the Christian Life

As this year comes to a close, most people will look back with disappointment for many reasons. I think that when we do that we have judged God to be wrong and imperfect. Our perception of what our life has been thus far is just that: Perception. God does not lie [Heb 6:18] and His way is always perfect…but He is dealing with an imperfect bunch of people that don’t want to obey the things of God but to things of the world. We misplace our faith from God toward our family and friends thinking they will make us happy and fruitful. People lie, God does not; people will fail you, God WILL NOT:

“For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock.” (Psalm 27:5)

Sometimes I think we go to our family and friends because we think there is safety in numbers, that they will protect us. Again, even they are an imperfect people that God is personally dealing with and your faith has been in them instead of God. It’s like depending on the weather when it can change anytime.

There is good news! We have refuge in His covering, in His love for us. We are a work that He has molded into what He wants us to be. Accept His covering, accept His assignment because He is perfect and His plan for us is perfect. Do not be afraid or suspicious – just be His willing vessel:

“He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.” Psalm 91:4

AND “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1) BECAUSE “The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalm 46:7)

Consider this New Year to be a year of transformation, a year of faith; a year of letting God be GOD in your life. We are a woefully inadequate people that need direction; El Shaddai, GOD Almighty – you are my shield and my strength [Psalm 28:7]…I pray that all will come to know YOU as GOD, El Shaddai.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)

Happy New Year.

The Spirit-filled Christian & Church

People seek to be complete as a person, a parent, an employee, a citizen, etc. – but do we seek to be a complete Christian and Church?

“If you then, being evil [original sin], know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those [His children] who ask Him!” (Luke 11:13)

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an interesting thing in the Church today, mostly because a whole lot of Christians have no idea what the Baptism is or have been taught to ignore it because their salvation does not depend on the Baptism. This is partially true, BUT if you had the opportunity to be better and fulfilled and complete, wouldn’t you want that? And if the Pulpit does not teach this, how can you know?

“He [Paul] said to them [Disciples in Christ], “Did you receive the Holy Spirit when you believed?” So they said to him, “We have not so much as heard whether there is a Holy Spirit.” (Acts 19:2)

Just as in the Church today, the Apostle Paul sensed a deficiency, or better said, a lack of knowledge pertaining to not just being baptized in the Holy Spirit but who He is and His POWER. The people Paul is addressing are disciples in Christ but were not taught the fullness of what they can or should be as Christians:

Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another Helper [Holy Spirit], that He may abide with you forever – the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive [without knowing Christ as Savior], because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.” (John 14:15-18)

Some would suggest that the scripture referenced previously in Acts 19:2 means that to be saved you must be baptized in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4), as the Apostolic sect maintains. Others will say that the Baptism in the Holy Spirit is not for today….if that were true, why then would Christ’s last words before he was taken up, be:

And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem [keep in prayer and supplication], but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” (Acts 1:4-5)

AND: “For the promise [of the Holy Spirit] is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” (Acts 2:39)

The Greatest Gift: We cannot repay the debt for what Christ did for us, and in spite of that, Jesus gives us the Gift of the Baptism of the Holy Spirit and we don’t accept it or seek it? How He must grieve our disobedience and lack of faith besides the reluctance of fulfilling what He has for us. However, even those that are baptized in the Holy Spirit – spirit filled Christians – have one more step to take, one that is seldom thought of…and that one step is SO important to maintain a Christian’s walk:

“Though I [Paul] speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not LOVE, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, BUT HAVE NOT LOVE, I AM NOTHING.” (1Corinthians 13:1-2)

We can’t keep glossing over the fundamentals of Christianity 101 BECAUSE we are Spirit-filled: “And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing,” (1Corinthians 13:3). When the Apostle Paul spoke this, he was a Spirit Filled Christian that had to learn to LOVE just as we do. The order is this:

  1. Paul was a sinner
  2. Paul had to be born-again
  3. Paul needed to be Baptized in the Holy Spirit
  4. Paul realized he needed to learn to LOVE both the brethren AND the unsaved
  5. Paul preached as Christ commanded (Mark 16:15).

As you can see, just as Paul, we have to follow the same order or we cannot be effective as Christians, Ministers, Preachers and Pastors.

How can I get this precious Gift? Seek for it in prayer and supplication, “And when Paul [the Apostle] had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6)

SUMMARY: Pastors and Preachers that are preaching only part of the Bible are not going to affect the Body of Christ as a whole body. The body has many members as noted in 1Corinthians 12:12-31, and every member has a 1)function, 2)needs Christ as their Savior AND 3)the Baptism of the Holy Spirit so that the Nine Gifts (1Cor 12:8-11) of the Spirit can work and flow FREELY…Paul said that he would not have us ignorant! But ignorance of what, who and how the Holy Spirit works is prevalent in the Modern Church even though the Bible says otherwise which can border on being blasphemous. The Church today is much like the lame man at the Gate called Beautiful (Acts 3:2-11); expecting alms but nothing to show for it.
