A Prolife Pulpit? Are you sure?

Never would I have thought that any church or ministry would be prochoice/proabortion. Or at least that’s what I believed 35+ years ago. We’ve been in prolife ministry since 2008 and I am still overcome with sadness and horror of how the Pulpit handles the subject of legal baby killing – abortion.

I had a prophetic dream last night, one that should chill a Pastor to the bone. God showed me many things in this dream; He used my husband, my adult son, his pregnant girlfriend [which is actually not the case btw], and a host of people who were supposed to be family and friends. It was dark, it was foreboding, and it was hard to see. But first let me say that God shows me many things in dreams but never do the characters look as they normally do, actually unrecognizable. It like looking at your child, knowing it’s him [or her], but looks completely different. However, let me get to the dream…

God used people I love and trust to get the point driven home. My husband was going to take my son and his girlfriend to get an abortion. Naturally, I was horrified and couldn’t figure out why he was not. Every time I tried to talk to them, there was distraction. Everywhere I turned there were people telling them the abortion is okay. I spoke, I yelled, I pleaded, I physically pushed people back, and barely a head turned my way. I saw a slight eye glance to me from the ‘husband’ as if he unacknowledged or dismissed me. As I turned, they disappeared while other family members sent me to where they said they were, and it was someone else laughing at me. I woke up.

Here is the interpretation: The Evangelical [Non-Denominational] Pulpit is silently accepting abortion because of personal situations that make it okay to them, preaches nothing in the meantime to soothe their troubled and sinful acts of abortion. SO, my husband and I are ordained ministers, my husband having been a Pastor in our home and an associate at other churches in the past. I love him and trust him, as well as our family. The Church becomes a Christian’s family, the Pastor the head of the home and Church, thusly trust is assumed much like with your natural family. In my personal story, I trusted my mother and family, but they turned me over to the Devil, to abortion.

Bottom line: The Pulpit is the CULPRIT, ‘do as I say’ rather than be the example. The Church is continually hoodwinked because Pastors step away from the Word and the Resurrection to silently accept abortion [and other abominations]. The Bible has never said abortion is a viable way to correct a sin problem, not one time. Jesus told the woman caught in adultery to go and sin NO MORE, not cover it up and shut up.

Out of great failure comes testimony. I am reminded of Who is Light and who is darkness; we cannot see in the dark:

‘Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12

Without THE Light we see nothing and know even less. How can the Church expect to know if the Pulpit will not preach and teach the unabridged Word of God?

Jesus is the Light, He is the Answer. I believe the Pulpit forgets that Jesus was tempted for 40 days and is quite aware of ALL sin, especially ones committed in the dark like abortion. But He does offer us HOPE and a cure:

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:2

This, my friends, begins in the Pulpit and should spread like wildfire throughout the Church and beyond. The Will of God is not darkness even though He is there in those dark times. Abortion is never the right answer to any question. A weak Pulpit is what ails the Church and chooses the battles that have no eternal value.

The prophetic dream I had should be a wakeup call to every Church-going Christian who supports their Pastor and his Ministry. I’ve always said ‘If you don’t ask, you won’t know’ – do you know your Pastor’s position on abortion? Have you ever heard the word abortion from the Pulpit? You have a right to know.

The Pauline Christian

A bunch of years ago, I worked at an upscale beauty salon and heard a curious question: The hairdresser asked her client, “When I highlight your hair, what do you want people to see?” This hairdresser was asking her client what she wanted other people to think when they saw her as their ‘first impression’ of her. This is a great lesson on what people think of us at first glance or impression and that we can change what we look like to garner an opinion, good or bad. In other words, if someone saw you on the street or the mall today, would they see a Christian? Are you sure?

Paul said, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” Romans 12:1-2

While researching this subject, I came across many ‘secularized christian’ denominations regarding the teachings of Paul and found that they follow [if you want to call it that] the teachings of Jesus, but not of Paul the Apostle:

Universalists are rooted in Judeo-Christian tradition and are Christian in that we follow the teachings of Jesus, but not the teachings of Paul, which frankly does not make us Christian by most Christian’s definitions.”

…not Christian? If that ain’t the truth.

And it’s not just universalists that don’t follow the teachings of Paul, most of the emergent movement does not; they feel that Paul was not called or that his Damascus Road experience and ministry was not enough to make his teachings and epistles part of the Word of God or even viable. That being said, they also believe that the Bible CONTAINS the word of God, as if it’s a piece of Tupperware.

Regarding Pauline Christianity: “Reference is made to the large number of non-canonical texts, some of which have been discovered during the last 100 years, which show the many movements and strands of thought emanating from Jesus’ life and teaching or which may be contemporary with them, some of which can be contrasted with Paul’s thought.” Interesting.

Contrasted with Paul’s thought’ is a great example of what pains most pseudo ‘christians’ that endorse the gay agenda and lifestyle, abortion rights, ecumenicalism, and the Liberal agenda…to name a few. They believe that since Christ did not mention these ‘maladies’ that they would not be the abominations that Paul cited and therefore either excused, overlooked or even encouraged: fornicators, idolaters, adulterers, homosexuals, sodomites, thieves, covetous, drunkards, revilers, extortioners [1Cor 6:9-10, Rom 1:29-32].

Paul said, “And I thank Christ Jesus our Lord who has enabled me, because He counted me faithful, putting me into the ministry, although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was exceedingly abundant, with faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief.” 1Timothy 1:12-15

Paul KNEW he was a sinner! He acknowledged that he was NOT perfect but taught a perfect message that Jesus gave him on the Damascus Road. The relevant ‘easy believism’ that befalls the emergent is not taught by Jesus, it is a demon spirit that seeks to consume and forsake the righteous.

Yes I am getting to a POINT: Even some of the most godly Azusa Street offshoots have been bewitched by not pleading the Blood of Christ or preaching the Holy Spirit inspired teachings of Paul, who was once Saul of Tarsus [Acts 7:58-60, 8:1-3], an evil murderer that was a large part of the ‘church’ of the day. How ironic that someone gets saved from his own church [Acts 9:1-19].

All this being said, the outward appearance of a Christian as a Christian is nearly invisible. We are seen as part of the world with short shorts, miniskirts, men that don’t wear shirts in public, heels that defy gravity or description, foul language, drinking alcohol, gambling [yes, the lottery is gambling], smoking, drugs, adultery, defiling our bodies and fornication…and that’s just the highlights.

“Finally then, brethren, we urge and exhort in the Lord Jesus that you should abound more and more, just as you received from us how you ought to walk and to please God; for you know what commandments we gave you through the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God.” 1Thessalonians 4:1-5

Is this a maturity problem of the Christian? Are holiness, modesty and chastity not taught in church anymore? Or is the Emergent Movement making the rest of conservative Christianity look and act like the world to attract moths to the bug zapper? Are we selling ourselves to the highest bidder: “Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? If anyone defiles the temple of God, God will destroy him. For the temple of God is holy, which temple you are.” [1Cor 3:16-17]

Considering that Pauline Christianity is too conservative for the ‘modern christian’, wouldn’t it be apparent that the Holy Spirit has been told He is not welcome anymore?

I saw an employment ad for a ‘Growth Pastor’ once. Look and act like the world, but just show up? Is this the future of the Church? Is this the Church that Christ is looking for when He comes back? Of course not…He did not die for the mega church, He died for me and you. And until He comes back, we need to sanctify ourselves because we are His and His ways are correct. And until then:

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 3:13-14

The ‘kind’ Christian rebuke.

More than once I’ve been accused of being a bit tough on Christians for not standing up to do what Christians are supposed to do. I am told that I don’t show the love of Jesus by being so one-sided. I say…you are wrong. Any Christian that does not call out other Christians and Pastors that are in grave error is not a Christian at all…they are only church goers with a Bible not yet read.

I have set watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem; they shall never hold their peace day or night.” Isaiah 62:6

Now, my first thought was (and not to be cliché), ‘What would Jesus do’? After all, being rebuked by other Christians is sometimes a high honor; I must be doing something to bring that kind of response in a somewhat public forum.

Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” Matthew 5:11-12

My second thought was how interesting it is to hear from those that do nearly nothing for the Kingdom to have such unkind things to say to someone that actually IS doing something.

“Then the righteous will answer Him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see You hungry and feed You, or thirsty and give You drink? When did we see You a stranger and take You in, or naked and clothe You? Or when did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.’” Matthew 25:37-40

Then my third thought was how Christians AND secular people think that Jesus Christ is this weak, slight of a man. Let me be the first to tell you that nothing is further than the truth.

“Then Jesus went into the temple of God and drove out all those who bought and sold in the temple, and overturned the tables of the money changers and the seats of those who sold doves.” Matthew 21:12

We are called to boldness, not weakness of nature, “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.”

How dare I NOT tell you the truth? I have to give an account if I do not, why would you think you do not? Christian, we are supposed to be on the same team. It is because of the love of God that I profess Jesus Christ first and then an advocate for the unborn.

Christian, read the word of God and listen to His voice through His mighty word, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”

Vinegar brings self-righteousness and bitterness; Honey brings seeker-sensitive weak Christians…but the TRUTH is what makes us true Disciples of Jesus Christ. Because what I do, I do in HIS name, a name without blemish and spot, “And you shall know thet TRUTH, and the TRUTH shall make you free.”

The Entitled Christian

I earned it, I deserve it, what about me; mine mine mine. If this is true, then there would be no need for God.

“Therefore come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.”

Being of the world separates us from God.

People have this misconception that all is theirs whenever they want it, at their fingertips. The Bible does not teach that Christians are entitled to worldly goods and pursuits, but Christians are just as guilty of feeling as entitled. Christians absently believe that God is there to make their life easier with bigger homes and better cars when the opposite is true: We are to have no need of the world; we are called to be separate from it – ALL OF IT.

God gave us what is most precious to Him and we give Him a wish-list.

Before coming to Christ, we were all doomed to a fiery eternal Hell. Our love of goods and things – entitlement – brought us all to need the world, not God. God gave us a part of Himself, Jesus Christ, to be our savior that we would not see Hell if we would just let the world go and believe on Him. How did Christians get to the point of not needing God anymore?

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

The world in which we live has set us up to fail. Christians need to get that: We have been set up to fail. The devil sets his traps as soon as you separate yourself from what is his – the world and your belief of entitlement to it. The devil knows what bits and pieces of the world that tempts you from a godly life and ministry.

“Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”

When you hear a bird outside in 13 degree weather happily chirping, you realize that God has taken care of that bird even in the harshest of conditions. Our entitlement of things to make us happy is not of God; He provides for our needs, not our lusts.

The Compromised Christian

Today’s ‘church’ has given a wide berth to compromise the sinner and the saint. There hasn’t just been a dumbing down of the Christian, but a numbing of the sinner. Churches are getting bigger and bigger with people that are in a world of self-help and psychology. It was psychology that kept me from understanding salvation; making myself equal to God, and Jesus just a lowly prophet that lived and died a couple of thousand years ago. It was the dumbing down that kept me in the bar thinking that God is going to forgive me anyway.

Jesus said, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”

I recently went to a service that was intended for their youth group. Yes, they professed Jesus. But what I SAW was dimmed lights (if they were on at all), dyed black hair, expletive from the pulpit and screaming loud music (and don’t get me started on the exploitation of the Word of God being abused by their endorsement of the Message Bible). I was wondering where the jello-shots were. I felt like I was in a bar, not a church. If that’s what it takes to get young people to church is to emulate parties and bars then they were lied to from the onset.

Ministers, preachers and pastors don’t make friends telling the compromised Christian that they aren’t living the crucified life that Christ meant for us, that He died for. No one is living Christianity OUTLOUD because their church doesn’t show them how. Pastors are to lead by example, do as I say not as I do? Pastors, you are not in the ministry to make friends. It makes you wonder who or what the Church serves.

Joshua 24:15 says, “…And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”

Pastors gloss over that Jesus also lived a daily life on earth during his 33 years; He woke in the morning, He slept, He ate, He drank, He got tired, He got angry, He loved, He learned a trade – He lived everyday as we do. His daily life was meant as an example of how to live for God every day. Jesus was making disciples, not friends. He was creating a family to take His Word to the world, waiting by the narrow gate.

Cafeteria Christianity

And how to save the Church.

You know what a cafeteria is! It’s a place where you can buy what you want ala carte, whenever and whatever you want. Christianity has become a cafeteria, picking and choosing what you believe instead of believing the entire canon of scripture and abiding with it. It is causing division among the Church pitting us one against another when we are supposed to be banding together as a community lifting up the Word of God.

The fast food way of life has put its foot in the door of the Church. And we’ve allowed it. Everything is running faster than we can catch up and the Church is following suit thinking that if it emulates the world just enough, we’ll stop and listen for a minute. The problem is the message the Church is giving is not one of Salvation through Jesus but an easy believe-ism to slow us down enough to catch us unaware.

The original texts are a faded memory to a lot of churches today. Bibles aren’t taken seriously and studying to be approved takes up too much time in the busy schedules of today’s pastors and preachers; they lip-sync downloaded messages from who-knows-where instead. In effect, the Church has just about destroyed Christianity with psychology with a dash of secularism and Christians are ruining the Church body with gossip and pride. All members of the ‘body’ have to be present and healthy for the Church community to work as a whole and grow. Sacrificing bits and pieces and expecting 100% is not realistic.

James 1:27 says simply, “Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world”.

The New Christian Mom

Or, Your mom is just as screwed up as my mom.

Men are men, agreed? Absolutely. In the church today, there is a new species of Christians; particularly the women. I see daughters of women in church that are dressed like the common tripe of the world; clothes way to tight, push-up bras, cleavage exposed, a lot of makeup, 3 inch heels, short skirts – and these are the 13 and 14 year old girls. Their mothers aren’t the least bit phased by the men that leer at their minor daughters not just because they are under the impression that Christian men would not do such a thing but because they also dress for attention.

Can you call yourself a Christian when you actively seek the things of the world?

Christian girls pose for photos that are posted online for EVERYONE to see. They are half-dressed and smiling. Well, I am here to tell you that as a married woman, I do not appreciate these teenagers dressing to tempt men, not boys…..but men. And I hold their mothers accountable because they know better. These girls are attracted to the things of the world and will eventually follow the world and its lusts.

Men are men. Agreed.

To be fair, I will tell you that I, too, ran around half-dressed looking for attention as an unsaved teenager. My mother thought I might attract a rich husband that way. But what I attracted was alcohol and men twice my age. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the world was not my friend but an enemy lurking to take my eternal soul.

Your church-going Christian mother is just as screwed up as my non-Christian mother. The only difference, Christian mom, is that you should know where the church ends and the world begins.

Social Materialism in the search for Religion

Are we all going to the same place? If all religions were standing at the base of the mountain on a journey to the top, will they all see the same thing?

All denominations, all religions, all sects seek to be the one…the one truth. So people window shop religions looking for the right fit which is just as materialistic as buying a designer bag instead of the purse that fits the need.

A priest, a rabbi and a Baptist pastor (I swear this is not a joke) are on a prominent news show talking about how equal we all are in the search for the same thing – however, no one actually said what that is but my suspicion is their quest for nirvana….‘everybody get together, try to love one another right now…’, you know the rest.

How has tolerance become so forefront? But to be fair, I want to share with you what the priest, rabbi and Baptist pastor actually said, to give them credibility:

  • The priest said that instead of burning books, perhaps we should read them; we might learn something. I say that it would be very beneficial if the priest would actually read the Bible.
  • The rabbi believes yoga should be in every synagogue.
  • The Baptist pastor thinks Jesus was a comedian; she couldn’t quite get the revelation of the camel and the eye of the needle but thought it was darned funny.

Their remarks are not credible, they don’t have the revelation that Christ died that they could be saved and they are leading their congregations off the plank in the middle of the ocean left to be shark bait. But hey, welcome to moral evolution and designer religion! It’s to die for!

The Church forgot all about Jesus.

“The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

Co-exist? Not in my House.

Being just short of God.

It is a fact: self-righteousness cannot cohabitate with righteousness. How is it that the self-righteous are so deceived? Easy answer: Preachers aren’t preaching the Word of God. Thus, we have droves of part-time Christians running around making those of us living a Crucified Life look bad.

How have we fallen so short of what is so simple?

Current events reflect how warped this concept is…it’s okay to abort a child if it falls into a category of harming someone else. Hmmm. That’s a tad broad, don’t you think? Besides, I’m pretty sure the abortion is going to harm the baby. Can’t any half-witted politician keep up with the basics of Life?

And then the hoopla with same-sex everything. The President is quietly signing away our rights to be heterosexual with just his signature. How does the Gay Agenda have anything to do with government? I like silver cars, but does that mean I should force everyone to drive one?

Lifestyle is a CHOICE. ‘Lifestyle’ dictates the self-righteous of the world by purposely choosing things not of God. Now the responsibility of an immoral society shifts to Christians that purport the Bible. How did the fall of humanity get to be our fault? And how did we drop the ball? By not professing the Lord Jesus Christ OUTLOUD. We are so content with this new-found modern Christianity that lauds secular music, movies, television and events that Jesus Christ is pounding on our doors to let Him in! How else could we expect non-believers to get it when we won’t?

“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Matthew 6:24, NKJV
