[After being faced with a crisis with one of our sons a few years ago, I beseeched God and said, “I will pray twice a day and hope You will send someone to him that will witness to him about You so that he would be saved.” And I did exactly that; I prayed and prayed and prayed knowing I am the WORST when it comes to prayer. But I did it. And God answered my prayer; while He did a miracle for my son, he did not stick with it and eventually fell back into the lifestyle that seeks to take his life. GLORY BE TO GOD that He still has His hand on him, but there is much work to be done.]
These are the verses I rely upon for my son; it’s for anyone that has a ‘lost’ or backslidden loved one:
v28 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
v29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
v30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” [Matthew 11:28-30]
YES! God will give us rest, He gave us His Son Jesus Christ! HOW AWESOME IS THAT? Even scripture says so, “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us,” [Romans 5:8].
Every backslidden soul needs the saints of God to pray and be in supplication. God gave us the authority to be healed and restored!
On this first day I prayed that God will keep harm from my son and that He would put another Godly man in his way to be a mentor to him. He still remarks on how this one preacher came and witnessed to him; he said this preacher was ‘real’ and seemed very interested in my son’s salvation. Jail ministry is so powerful, but it can also be put into the wrong hands and bring an agenda rather than a crucified Christ.
If you are in jail or prison ministry, PRAISE GOD…but be very wise in the Lord before you do so. Just as one preacher helped my son, another came along and seemed very haughty and disinterested. Being a stumbling block will not save the lost.
Remember to pray today.
